In this project, I led end-to-end product design on a feature aimed to increase transparency surrounding domains on GoDaddy.com. Though I can’t share my work publicly, here’s a general outline of my design process + timeline:

During my internship, I…

  • Created problem statement and sorted user needs to prioritize solutions

  • Wrote and ran 2 user testing plans on UserTesting.com to generate user feedback

  • Analyzed 10+ user sessions to gain information on user behavior

  • Collaborated extensively with product team to understand constraints, genetate feedback, and redesign

  • Utilized Figma and Jira for designs and smooth hand-off to engineers

  • Presented designs to stakeholders from various areas of company to understand impact of design change

  • Shipped designs 3 weeks before internship ended!

I was also lucky enough to work on some side projects this summer.

  • Led UX Design for Made in America Microsite redesign (in process of development)

  • Explored design solutions for Front of Site navigation breadcrumbs and related product modules (currently being tested + shipped)

  • Assisted with UX for Kinlo.com, Naomi Osaka's skincare line

  • Presented to leadership and won the intern hackathon with a team of 5 engineering interns! Our idea will be tested as an expirement live on the website :)

Reflection

This summer was full of learning as it was my first opportunity to work closely with a product team. I was able to experience firsthand how designs become implemented and shipped. I learned a lot about my strengths as a designer- being able to work cross-collaboratively, thinking critically, and staying organized. I also discovered my largest area of growth is visual design.

I found that I love the puzzle of product design and the collaboration it invites. I was pushed by my manager to have autonomy over my project by leading research, iterations, and reaching out to the team for help/feedback.

Huge thanks to the people below for being my cheerleaders this summer:

Manager: Ryan Allen

Mentors: Shriya Hardikar, Kelsey Dietrich

+ everyone on the FoS UX and SERPents engineering teams!
